Red Nose Day is back. Comic Relief’s flagship fundraising event returns tomorrow with the aim of generating millions of pounds to help people live free of poverty, violence and discrimination.
This year’s Red Nose Day will culminate with a star-studded evening of TV live from the BBC’s base at MediaCityUK, Salford. There will be a host of sketches, live performances and one-off comedy specials - which will run alongside videos highlighting the impact that donations have made in the UK and across the world.
The show will be hosted by Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness and Sir Lenny Henry. Stars set to appear include French and Saunders, Jack Whitehall and Tom Daley.

But Comic Relief says that this year’s event is all about you - people at home, in schools or at work. Here are some ways that you can get involved and raise money on Red Nose Day 2022.
The classic sponsored challenge is a great way to make money for Comic Relief. And people tend to be more willing to sponsor you if there’s some sort of suffering involved.
A long walk, run or cycle is a popular way to do it. Or a sponsored silence might be a good way to keep the kids quiet for a little while.
Dressing up is always a good laugh - which is imperative on Red Nose Day. It could be a fancy dress party, a full-on fashion show, a 'who can dress the ugliest' contest or who can wear the most red.
Another classic in the fundraising genre - guessing games can be a fun way of raising money. Guess the number of sweets in a jar or the name of a teddy bear are familiar favourites - or if you can persuade colleagues to bring in old photographs of themselves - you could even play ‘Guess the Baby’.
Everybody loves quizzes - so you can test the brain power of colleagues or school children with a pay-to-play quiz. It could help spice up break time while earning much-needed funds for Comic Relief.
Pit classmates or colleagues against one another in a distance race - adding obstacles or fancy dress for even more fun. Or you could hold a relay for everyone to take part in and keep the nose on the spoon for as long as possible.
A raffle is another classic way of raising money for charity - giving the added incentive for people to donate as they could win a prize. Local businesses may be willing to donate some amazing prizes to help you sell strips of raffle tickets.
Kids of all ages love rock, paper, scissors. Participants can pay a small entry fee and then face off against each other in a tournament, with the winner scooping a prize.
If anyone at your office or school is particularly crafty, you could open up a stall to auction off their creations. Or you could even organise a sponsored craft-a-thon - knitting the longest scarf or making the most birthday cards.
Caption contests are another great way of generating laughter as well as money. You just need a daft photo of a colleague, pin it up on the wall and allow people to pay a small fee to leave a caption - with the funniest winning a prize.
Dye eye-brows, shave your head, get in a bath of beans - nothing is too daft when it comes to Comic Relief. Just make sure you get sponsored to do it.
